Okay, own up – when was the last time you did any of the following to your business’s website?
- Added a news item
- Changed the home page message
- Added any images or video
- Checked your content for SEO
- Ensured the content was still relevant
Quite worrying is that we suspect most business owners will be guilty of at least one of the above oversights. The usual excuse is that ‘we’re all too busy’ which is pretty-much like saying ‘we don’t really care if our prospective customers see a website that is hideously out-of-date’.
Flip this around – if you’re looking for goods or services online and you come across a website that patently hasn’t been updated for months, years or even over a decade (yes, we’ve just taken on such a Client), how inclined would you be to buy from that business? More likely, you’ll be hitting the ‘back’ button in your browser within a second or two.
The problem lies in the fact that unlike many other elements of your business that the public can see of your business, whether that be a shop window, a brochure, or a sign-written vehicle, you’re not forced to look at your website every day. Consequently it gets overlooked. So whilst the company van/car gets a thorough valet every week – the company website gets neglected.
The following info-graphic cleverly outlines some of the key facts that you should think about when asking yourself if updating your business website regularly is really that important.
