Unless your business is in a market with little competition, marketing your business online is fiercely competitive so you need to grasp every opportunity you can to grab a larger share of your market.
When a prospective customer lands on your website, you have just a few seconds to grab their attention. That person is looking for a solution to their commercial needs and will almost certainly look at numerous websites to find the perfect solution. So you need to find an effective way of grabbing their attention to ‘sell’ your products or services.
And we think that one of the most effective mediums to accomplish this is with an explainer video.
What is an Explainer Video?
Firstly, we can’t stress enough that an explainer video is not an advert for your business. As consumers, we’ve learned how to switch-off from commercial adverts through years of exposure via our television sets. However, an explainer video addresses the needs of the viewer by pointing out how their problems can be solved by the relevant company. The only thing being ‘sold’ are benefits to the user.
Here are a couple of our explainer videos that we’ve designed for our Clients…[block_grid type=”two-up”][block_grid_item] [x_video_embed type=”16:9″][/x_video_embed] [/block_grid_item] [block_grid_item] [x_video_embed type=”16:9″][/x_video_embed] [/block_grid_item] [/block_grid]
As you can see from these examples, the main premise is to identify with the viewers commercial needs, tell them about the ideal solution and then reinforce why they’ve found the right company to address their need – all of this is done within a few minutes.
It is almost impossible to accomplish all these marketing aims so quickly and concisely in any media other than video.
So What Are The Benefits To Your Business?
The bottom line is that explainer videos will help you attract more enquiries via your website. But you don’t need to take our word for it as there is a ton of data online which backs-up the following facts about using video on your website pages:
- A consumer is 144% more likely to buy from you
- A visitor will stay on your website twice as long
- A visitor will, on average, visit double the amount of pages on your website
- More than 50% of 25-54 year old users share video online
- 57% of consumers state their buying decision was positively influenced by a product video
And if That’s Not Reason Enough…
In recent months, Google has started to display videos in their search results so if your video is added to your website correctly, rather than just having a listing in Google that looks just the same as your competitors, you could have your video displayed right next to your listing like these examples.
Imagine if one of your customers does a search in Google and see’s a listing in the results with a video next to it – how more likely do you think they are to click that link before the others? Well, we know that they are on average 244% more likely.
So How Much Does an Explainer Video Cost?
Shame on you for asking this question – surely you should be thinking about how much extra revenue an explainer video will help your business attract? However, we know that you probably have a budget to work to so we’ll come on to the pricing in a second. First though, we need to stress one very important thing about commissioning an explainer video…
A cheap video will always look like a cheap video
The internet is littered with millions of business videos that have been done on the cheap and in almost every case, the video will probably have a negative affect on the business rather than a positive one. An effective explainer video works because of the following reasons:
- It has a script written by a professional Copywriter
- It has graphics produced by a professional Graphics Artist
- It is narrated by a professional Voice Over Artist
- It is compiled and presented by professional Marketing Experts
Our advice would be that if you can’t afford to pay for a professional explainer video then it simply isn’t worth your while trying to compile a video on the cheap as it simply won’t deliver the results that a professional video will. Spending £300 or £400 on a video is pointless if it doesn’t help you gain more business right?
So, how much should you expect to pay?
Obviously the cost will differ depending on your precise requirements but as a rule of thumb, you should expect to pay £1,500 for the first 60-seconds of video, then around £400 for every additional 30 seconds. We’d suggest the ideal video length is a minimum of 60-seconds to a maximum of 120-seconds so the final price you’ll pay will be in the region of £1,500 to £2,300.
But as we say, if you’re looking at cost alone, it’s the wrong way to think of video. If you can sell just 10% more products or services every month, how long will it take for the video to have paid for itself?
